The challenge


Student.com are the world’s biggest student property comparison website. They are famous in China but lack mainstream student awareness in the UK. Hype Collective were briefed to grow their awareness in the UK and drive media coverage of the organisation whilst championing their message of always supporting students.

What we did


We started with audience insights, and found that students are the second loneliest demographic in the UK. The only lonelier demographic? The elderly.

So we launched Together by Student.com, twinning student halls with nearby carehomes to build relationships across generations.

Students were encouraged to volunteer in local care homes with a month’s free rent. These were the student halls where it paid to be nice.

The results


This campaign generated over 50 pieces of coverage for Student.com, including features on the BBC, The Guardian and The Express.

What’s more, we were inundated with applications for the programme – over 256 students registered.
